How to set a custom wallpaper

Match your Blank Spaces widgets to your home screen wallpaper for a seamless, clean look.

Blank Spaces lets you use a custom wallpaper behind your widgets so they blend perfectly into your home screen. To make this work, you'll need to capture a screenshot of your wallpaper and import it into the app.

1. Set your wallpaper in iOS

Make sure the wallpaper you want is already applied to your home screen. You can set or change this in Settings β†’ Wallpaper.

2. Take a clean screenshot of your wallpaper

You need a screenshot of your wallpaper with nothing on it. Here's how:

  1. Long-press on an empty area of your home screen until the apps start to jiggle.

  2. Swipe right past all of your home screen pages until you reach a blank page with no apps or widgets.

  3. Take a screenshot:

    • New iPhone: Press the side button and volume up button at the same time.

    • Old iPhone: Press the side button and Home button at the same time.

3. Import the screenshot into Blank Spaces

  1. Open the Blank Spaces app.

  2. Tap the paintbrush icon (top right).

  3. Tap Custom Wallpaper.

  4. Tap the Import Screenshot button at the bottom and select the screenshot you just took.
