How to fix apps not opening properly with CarPlay

Fix Blank Spaces apps opening on your CarPlay display instead of your iPhone by setting up two quick automations in Apple Shortcuts.

Make sure you have updated to the latest version of Blank Spaces on the App Store.

Connecting to CarPlay

  1. Open Apple Shortcuts > Automations tab

  2. Tap New Automation

  3. Select CarPlay

  4. Check Is Connected and Run Immediately

  5. Tap New Blank Automation

  6. Search for Blank's Set CarPlay Mode action

    • Set CarPlay Mode to Connected

    • Tap the checkmark to save

Disconnecting from CarPlay

  1. Open Apple Shortcuts > Automations tab

  2. Tap New Automation

  3. Select CarPlay

  4. Check Is Disconnected and Run Immediately

  5. Tap New Blank Automation

  6. Search for Blank's Set CarPlay Mode action

    • Set CarPlay Mode to Disconnected

    • Tap the checkmark to save

Once both automations are set, Blank Spaces will automatically switch modes when you connect and disconnect from CarPlay.
